Jeddah: The Saudi Ministry Of Social Welfare Has Unveiled Some Amendments To The New Labor Reform Measures That Will Take Effect From March 14.
One Of The Amendments Is That The Worker Can Transfer The Job To Another Employer Without A Fixed Time Limit If The Current Employer Agrees. This Is Possible Only If There Are No Conditions Related To Repatriation.
The Second Amendment Also States That A Change Of Employment Is Possible Without The Consent Of The Current Employer Upon The Expiration Of The Statutory Employment Contract.
The Ministry Also Amended The Terms And Conditions To Allow A Change Of Employment Without The Consent Of The Current Employer 12 Months After Entering Saudi Arabia.
If The Two Parties Do Not Agree To Change Jobs Within 12 Months Of Arriving In Saudi Arabia, The Worker Must Notify The Employer 90 Days Prior To The Termination Of The Contract. (Officials Have Previously Stated That Workers Will Have To Pay For Losses Incurred During The Termination Of The Employment Relationship Before The Termination Of The Contract).
It Will Be A Great Blessing For Many Expatriates To Be Able To Change Their Employer Before And After The Termination Of Their Employment Contract.
At The Same Time, It Can Be Expected That The Bad Attitudes And Considerations Of Some Employers Towards Existing Workers Will Change Drastically As Workers Will Be Able To Find And Change The Area Of their Choice At Any Time.
