Expatriates who have been abroad for more than six months cannot return to Oman. The exemption imposed in the Kovid context was terminated. Officials also said that the facility to renew visas online has been discontinued.
The Royal Oman Police Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a circular that the waivers were part of a move to remove concessions made in the Kovid context.
Visa renewal facility online at home has also been discontinued. According to Oman's visa rules, work visa holders cannot stay outside the country for more than 180 days. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the visa.
In the context of Kovid, the Iowa Act was given a temporary relaxation from the end of last July. Under the Iowa Concession, those who have completed this period can return to Oman with the consent of the sponsor.
