KOVID OUTBREAK IN SAUDI ARABIA: STRONG ACTION IF DEFENSES FAIL

Health precautions began to be tightened in Saudi Arabia as the number of Kovid patients began to rise. The home ministry said it would take strong action against institutions and individuals who fall short in defense measures. Authorities have made the Tawakkalna app mandatory in more areas.

The Tawakkalna app was made mandatory in the Eastern Province and Riyadh yesterday. Following this, the Tawakkalna mobile app was made mandatory in Tabuk and Azir, officials said. In these places, the app must be activated on the mobile to access government and private sector institutions and public places. Inspection has also been strengthened in private institutions and public places. The home ministry has warned that it will take "severe disciplinary action" against those who fail to protect themselves.

The company will also impose fines on customers who enter the private sector for violating the rules such as not wearing masks and not keeping social distance. Violators will be fined 10,000 riyals in the first instance and 20,000 riyals in the second instance. If the offense is repeated a third time, the fine will be doubled and the employees will be handed over to the public prosecution. The Home Ministry also warned that the company would be shut down for three months for the first time and for six months for the second time.
