Iqama Renewal four times a year; Preparations were active, with five departments in charge

Preparations are underway to implement the new announcement that the iqama and work permits of private sector employees in the country will be renewed four times a year. Five government departments have been tasked with making arrangements and arrangements for granting and renewing iqama for a period of three months. It was approved by the ruler king Salman himself.

The Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the Ministry of Finance and the Center for Non-Petroleum Revenue Development are expected to coordinate and take necessary steps.

The home minister has been tasked with setting a date for the implementation of the decision to allow and renew iqama during the quarter. The announcement will be made after reaching an agreement with the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and the President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority.

Currently, the iqama of foreigners in the country is allowed and renewed for one year. It costs more than 10,000 riyals to renew an iqama. For companies with many employees, this is a huge amount of money to be found at the same time. Moreover, if the worker changes his place of residence or goes home after renewal, the remaining amount will not be refunded. The employers had earlier pointed out these issues and demanded solutions. However, it was announced a month ago that iqama could be renewed and taken out at the rate of three months in a year.
