Saudi Customs has said that private property owned by travelers from outside Saudi Arabia must pay customs duty if it exceeds 3,000 riyals. Only new items are taxable. Customs also said that customs duty does not apply to personal items used. Customs also said that 15 per cent value added tax (VAT) should be levied on imported goods.
There will be shipping fees, customs fees and any other fees until the Unified Electronic Service Act begins to apply between the Gulf countries. Customs officials said foreign vehicles entering Saudi Arabia with an authorized permit would have a maximum stay of three months, after which a fine of 20 riyals per day would be imposed, but this would be 10 per cent of the maximum vehicle price.
