Riyadh - The Control and Anti-Corruption Commission has announced that 24 officials of the Ministry of Health have been arrested in a corruption case. A total of 71 people are accused in the case. In addition to the Ministry of Health officials, 15 officials from the Department of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, 14 officials from the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, two teachers from a government university and 16 employees from a private company working in the field of medical waste treatment are also accused in the case.
Instead of not applying the rules to the medical waste treatment company and turning a blind eye to violations on the part of the company, the company would hand over millions of riyals, air tickets, hotel bookings and cars to officials in various government departments as bribes and employ close relatives of the employees in the company. The Control and Anti-Corruption Commission has since released details of seven major corruption cases recently found.
