HOLIDAYS TWO DAYS A WEEK IN THE SAUDI PRIVATE SECTOR

The deadline for private sector companies to comment on the implementation of the two-day-a-week holiday in Saudi Arabia has expired. Working more than eight hours and working overtime will be considered overtime. The law will come into force with the final approval of the Ministry of Manpower and Social Development.

Saudi Arabia is bringing in new laws in anticipation of upcoming labor law amendments in March. The ministry had also proposed two days off a week in the private sector. The time for the private sector to comment on this has come to an end today. Currently, working hours are 48 hours a week. There is a move to reduce this to forty hours. If the order goes into effect, you will have to pay extra for work done beyond this time. In Ramadan, 36 hours is reduced to 30 hours.

With the final approval, it will have to benefit about 70 lakh foreign workers in the private sector. In short, working hours will change to five days. If you work on the sixth day, it falls into the overtime category. Even working hours records of workers in establishments with punching systems can be crucial in employment cases. Maternity leave pay is included in the new move from 10 to 14 weeks.
