A quarter of stock market investors are women

 Official figures show that a quarter of Saudi stock market investors are women. Over the past two years, 3,81,000 women investors have entered the Saudi stock market. 37,000 women investors entered the stock market last year and 3,44,000 women investors in 2019. At the end of last year, there were 13,89,000 women investors with portfolios in the Saudi stock market. At the end of 2019, the number of women investors was 13,52,000. At the end of 2018, the number of women investors was around one million.


The number of individual investors in the Saudi stock market rose to 55,90,000 at the end of last year. This is an all-time record. Of these, 13,89,000 are women and 41,97,000 are men. According to the Saudi Capital Markets Authority, 24.8 percent of Saudi stock market investors are women. Women investors numbered 9,89,708 in 2017, 10,08,054 in 2018, 13,52,000 in 2019 and 13,89,000 in 2020. The number of women investors increased by 2.7 per cent last year. Male investors were 36,80,236 in 2017, 37,27,620 in 2018 and 41,24,000 in 2019. By the end of last year, the number of male investors had risen to 41,97,000. The number of female investors in the first quarter of 2020 was 13.6 lakh, 13.75 lakh in the third quarter and 13.89 lakh in the fourth quarter, according to the Saudi Capital Markets Authority.
