 Saudi Arabia's new job test requirement could affect thousands of foreigners

With the qualifying exam for work in Saudi Arabia set to begin this coming July, there are reports that the requirement may apply to those in a number of professional professions.

Under the examination scheme, the qualification of foreign skilled workers to continue in the existing professions in Saudi Arabia has to be proved through theory and practical examinations.

Skilled workers coming to Saudi Arabia on a new visa will only be stamped with a work visa after passing the vocational examination conducted at selected examination centers in their country.

At the same time, if they come to Saudi Arabia, they will not have to take the exam again. Through the examination program, the authorities aim to improve the quality of the labor market and control the number of unskilled workers.
The job skills test will be conducted by the Saudi Ministry of Manpower and Social Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vocational Technical Training Corporation.
