MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSMEN IN SAUDI GET COMFORT; NO INCREASE IN GOVERNMENT FEES

Saudi Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) does not intend to increase government fees. The ministry also suggested that the government departments which wish to increase and amend the existing fee structure should submit their feasibility studies and practical methods to the ministry.

The announcement was made by the Commerce and Investment Ministry. Earlier, the ministry said it would not increase the total fees charged by the government to small and medium enterprises until 2020. The top ministry officials have instructed all concerned government departments to refrain from proposing to increase or modify the existing fee structure without studying the social and economic implications of the change. The decision is part of increasing competition in the country's investment climate and encouraging small and medium enterprises. The Fiscal Balance Program had earlier advised the government not to charge more from such entities to protect them.
