Saudi Arabia opens road borders The borders with the GCC countries UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain have been opened. In the first phase, only trucks and domestic passengers will be allowed to enter the country by land.
The Saudi Directorate of Customs has issued a circular allowing entry to all types of trucks in the country. The new move is part of a step-by-step process to restore the border. Entry is from UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain, which share borders.
Borders reopen after four months of closure. The borders were previously closed as part of a crackdown on Kovid expansion. Access was restricted to emergency goods vehicles. Permits for nationals, their relatives and domestic workers to enter the country by road were earlier reinstated.
However, those arriving through the border check posts will be allowed entry subject to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, preparations were made to launch international flights from the country. Special training for sniffer dogs has already begun to help identify covid patients arriving at airports. Canine virus detectors are also being set up at airports across the country, the sources said.
