Riyadh: Consumers are complaining that the National Water Company is charging huge bills. According to a poll conducted by a leading local newspaper, 81 per cent of consumers expressed dissatisfaction. Only six per cent have confidence in the company's performance. Currently, there are many complaints against the water company. A customer complained that he had to pay 75,000 riyals even after the meter was deactivated and the house was locked due to the death of the landlord. Another customer complained that the meter had not worked for more than three years and that the bill came to 37,000 riyals two years after the house was locked.
Earlier, the National Water Company had explained the features of the smart water meter and how water bills are calculated. The company claims that more than 90 percent of the bills are based on actual monthly readings and the remaining bills are based on last month's consumption rates.
Meanwhile, more than 8,590 complaints have been lodged against the company so far. The company said it would look into the complaints and take necessary action.
