17 people have been fined 7,40,000 riyals for violating online advertising law

Riyadh -  17 people have been fined 7,40,000 riyals for violating online advertising lawsuits, the Commerce Ministry said. They were fined for violating the terms of the ad under the e-Commerce Act and advertising on social media such as Snap Chat and Twitter. The 17 were found guilty of violating the law, including not disclosing advertisements about attars, electrical appliances, utensils, restaurants, insurance companies and textiles, making false claims in advertisements and advertising about currency trading. The ministry closed two online stores for violating the law. Their sites have also been blocked.

Online advertisements require that they be specifically advertised as advertising. Traders are also prohibited from advertising about trademarks and counterfeit trademarks that they do not have the right to use. The law also prohibits the inclusion of claims that deceive users in advertising. The advertisement should include the name of the product, the name of the merchant and the means of communicating with the merchant. Merchants are required to comply with the standards and offers stated in the advertisements.
Online advertisements are monitored by the Ministry of Commerce. Violators of the terms of the advertisement under the e-Commerce Act will be fined up to one million riyals. It will also block illegal sites and bar you from operating in the online business area.
