Expatriates are looking for a way to reach Saudi Arabia via Oman after Saudi Arabia imposed a travel ban on people from 20 countries, including the UAE. Currently it is practical but it has many challenges and costs.
Oman is still Saudi Arabia's green list country. Although it is not possible to reach Saudi Arabia directly from India or the UAE, there is no impediment to going to Saudi Arabia once the 14-day quarantine is completed in Oman. Road borders are closed but visitors to Oman can obtain a visa by air. It will cost a lot of money for accommodation, check-in and tickets. Those in the travel industry say there are many who are exploring this possibility.
Many are trapped in Oman, similar to those in the UAE, as Kuwait has barred expatriates from entering. The concern is how long the Saudi trip via Oman will be possible as travel protocols change abruptly.
